Giants call up Posey and Runzler

The Giants called up two of their top players from the minor leagues. Buster Posey, their 2008 first round pick, was considered the top catching prospect in the minor leagues. Dan Runzler. their 2007 ninth round pick, has made a rapid ascent through the minor leagues (the major league team is his fifth stop this year). Giants Add Penny, Superb in First Start

The Giants signed Brad Penny to a minor league deal, hoping that he could fill the hole that they had at the fifth spot in the rotation. The Giants successfully acquired a bat before the deadline, first basemen/outfielder/catcher Ryan Garko, from the Cleveland Indians. Giant Off-season

Post Trade Deadline

The Giants were only able to unload one veteran before the trade deadline, Ray Durham. In return for Durham, the Giants received to prospects. Many thought that it would be in the Giants best interest to trade away more veterans than just Durham, but General Manager Brian Sabean did not complete any other deals. Crede Coming?

Aaron Rowand, the Giant's All-Star and Gold-Glove center fielder, tells the team that they should trade for third baseman Joe Crede. Rowand, a teammate of Crede's on the 2005 World Series winning Chicago White Sox, says that he would do wonders for the team with his fielding at third base and his power at the plate. Currently, the Giants have only one realistic third baseman, Rich Aurilia, who is coming off of an injury-riddled season. New Star On The Roster!

Yesterday, the Giants signed All-Star and Gold-Glover center fielder Aaron Rowand to a five-year contract. In doing so, the Giants have added a desperately needed quality hitter to their very sub-par lineup. As an added bonus to this, the Giants have also found themselves a terrific center fielder. The Giants aren't off the market yet though. They are still trying to come by young slugger Alex Rios, from Toronto. So far, Toronto has showed a lot of interest in the Giants young star pitcher, Tim Lincecum, but the Giants aren't willing to give Lincecum up. What do you think of the Giants getting Aaron Rowand?
