Giants Acquire Sanchez

The Giants successfully acquired another bat before the deadline, second basemen Freddy Sanchez, from the Pittsburgh Pirates. To get him, the Giants had to give up right handed pitcher Tim Alderson. Alderson, 20, was 7-2 with a 3.65 ERA this season at San Jose (high A) and Connecticut (AA). Who do you think got the good end of this deal? Comment with your input.

Giants Acquire Garko

The Giants successfully acquired a bat before the deadline, first basemen/outfielder/catcher Ryan Garko, from the Cleveland Indians. To get him, the Giants had to give up left handed pitcher Scott Barnes. Barnes, 21, was 12-3 with a 2.85 ERA this season at San Jose (high A). Who do you think got the good end of this deal? Sanchez No-No for real?

On July 10, Jonathan Sanchez returned to the rotation as a replacement for Randy Johnson (who was injured). To the surprise of everyone, Sanchez threw a no-hitter and the only batter to reach was on a Juan Uribe error. Do you think that Sanchez can keep this stellar performance up, or do you think that the Giants should trade him? Comment with your input.

2009 All-Star Game

The 2009 All-Star Game in St. Louis had two Giants, starting pitchers Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain, represented. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval also made the "final vote", but finished only second in the voting to Phillies All-Star Shane Victorino. In the game, second time All-Star Tim Lincecum was chosen as the starting pitcher, and he went two innings while giving up one earned run. First time All-Star Matt Cain was not able to participate due to being hit in the elbow in his previous start.
